Welcome to This Excellent Church

We're a church in the heart of Lagos, with one mission: to reshape men's values and reconcile men to God. In practice, that means learning from the Bible every Sunday and letting it change how we think and how we live. It also means coming to the Lord's Table and enjoying life together as a community of believers.

Our excellence is of God, not ourselves. Our name comes from 2 Corinthians 4:7: we carry a great treasure in ordinary clay jars, so it is clear the excellent power belongs to God, not to us. Nothing good here starts with us. We're ordinary people who depend on His grace, and we want everything we do to point back to Him.

Join

Come on a Sunday at 8:30am and stay to talk afterwards. We gather to hear the Bible preached, to pray, to worship, and to come to the Lord's Table. If you want to belong, we'll walk you through what we believe and what membership involves.

Learn

God has spoken, and the Bible is where we hear Him. We preach through whole books of the Bible, as we hold to Scripture alone as our final authority.

Grow

Everyone who belongs to Christ is set apart by God as His own, and He keeps making them holy through His means of grace: the preaching of His Word, baptism, the Lord’s Table, and prayer. So we grow together as a church by learning, serving one another, praying together, and telling each other the truth in love.

Reshaping men's values, reconciling men to God

We are Reformed. We stand on statements of faith Protestants have trusted for over 400 years, which set out what the church has believed since the apostles. At the centre is the good news that Jesus Christ reconciles sinners to God.

We also believe the Holy Spirit still works among His people today. He strengthens our faith, equips us to serve, and, as He chooses, does what only God can do, but never in a way that adds to what He has said in Scripture.
