What to expect on Sunday

Order of service

1. Sunday School

   8:30am

   Heidelberg Catechism

   We work through the Heidelberg Catechism together, one Lord’s Day at a time. Everyone is welcome, however new you are.

2. Call to Worship

   9:05am

   Psalm Reading

   We open with a responsive reading from the Psalms.

   Opening Prayer

   We confess our sins and ask for God’s presence, blessing and guidance, and for the Holy Spirit to work among us.

   Hymns

   We sing God’s praise together, led by the worship team.

   Recitation of the Nicene Creed

   The leader asks, “What do we believe?” and the whole congregation answers by reciting the Nicene Creed, confessing together the faith Christians have held for centuries.

   Greetings

   We greet one another and welcome those who are visiting.

3. The Word of God

   Scripture Reading

   A passage of the Bible is read aloud to the whole church.

   Sermon

   A pastor preaches from the Bible, explaining what it says and showing how it speaks to our lives today.

4. The Lord’s Table

   Holy Communion

   We share the bread and the cup, remembering Christ’s death for us and giving thanks, with songs that fix our eyes on Him.

5. Worship and Closing

   Worship

   We sing again in response to all we have heard and received.

   Congregational Prayers

   We adore God and bring our requests to Him, praying for everyday needs, missions and church planting, our city, and those in authority.

   Announcements

   We share church news and what is coming up in the life of the church.

   Benediction

   After a closing prayer, we receive God’s blessing in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

   Doxology

   We end the service as we began, giving God the glory, with “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow”.
