Reshaping values,
reconciling men back to God

This Excellent Church congregationTEC members seated together

This Excellent Church is a confessional Reformed congregation with a heartfelt mission: to reshape values and reconcile men back to God. Located in Lagos, Nigeria, our vision is to see multitudes across our nation come to know Jesus, delight in Him, and find ultimate satisfaction in Him. We hold firmly to the Three Forms of Unity and embrace the continuationist perspective, affirming the enduring work of the Holy Spirit in confirming the gospel handed down from the Apostles and compassionately caring for us through signs and wonders according to His own will. We are formally registered as Phos Anthropos Global Ministry under the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (RC 160102).

We hold in high regard; Faith in God's saving grace, Love in our relationships, and Purity in obedience. We pursue Scholarship to deepen our grasp of the truth and celebrate Beauty as a reflection of God's glory in creation.

Our Creed

We are part of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ and affirm the Nicene Creed and the Chalcedonian Definition, which embody orthodox Christian belief. With the Protestant Reformation, we confess the Three Forms of Unity: the Belgic Confession, the Canons of Dort and the Heidelberg Catechism.

The Belgic confession

The Belgic Confession was readily received by Reformed churches in the Netherlands after its early translation into Dutch in 1562. In 1566 it was revised by the Synod of Antwerp.

The Canons of Dort

The Decision of the Synod of Dort on the Five Main Points of Doctrine in Dispute in the Netherlands is popularly known as The Canons of Dort (or the Five Articles Against the Remonstrants).

The Heidelberg Catechism

The Heidelberg Catechism, the second of our doctrinal standards, was written in Heidelberg at the request of Elector Frederick III, ruler of the most influential German province, the Palatinate, from 1559 to 1576.
